Hero Ice Wizard expands the familiar slowing role of Ice Wizard with an ability designed to interrupt an entire push. Frosty Fella freezes troops in an area and spawns a snowman behind the nearest slowed enemy. The trapped troops remain frozen until the opposing player destroys that snowman, giving players a control option to use alongside the season’s new Minion Giant win condition.
How to Unlock Hero Ice Wizard
There are two confirmed routes. Players can choose Hero Ice Wizard as a reward on the upgraded Pass Royale track or spend 200 Hero Coins. Check the exact reward position and your current Hero Coin balance in-game before committing resources, particularly if you are also developing another Hero covered in the Hero Berserker guide.
Do not spend solely because the Hero is new. Consider whether a control-focused defender fits the decks you already use and whether another Hero is a higher priority. If you choose Hero Ice Wizard through the Pass, preserve Hero Coins until you have tested his role.
How Frosty Fella Works
Hero Ice Wizard still slows enemy troops through his normal attacks. Activating Frosty Fella then targets the nearest slowed troop, places a snowman behind it and freezes troops within the ability area. The enemy must destroy the snowman to release the push.
This makes the slow effect a setup requirement rather than incidental value. Deploy Hero Ice Wizard early enough to tag the intended troop, but keep him far enough from danger to survive until the ability is useful. If the wrong unit is the nearest slowed target, the snowman may appear in a position that is easy to reach.
Best Frosty Fella Timing
Use the ability when several valuable troops enter the freeze area or when stopping movement creates a decisive defensive advantage. Freezing a lone cheap unit normally gives less value than waiting for the support troops behind a tank. However, delaying too long can allow the push to reach the tower or eliminate Ice Wizard.
The snowman’s position matters as much as the number of frozen units. Ideally it appears behind the push, making the opponent spend time or a spell to reach it. Avoid activations that place the snowman beside an enemy splash attacker or inside an area already covered by a damaging spell.
Deck-Building Priorities
Hero Ice Wizard belongs naturally in control decks that benefit from buying time. Pair the freeze window with splash damage, a defensive building or a counterattacking unit that can remove the immobilised push. Include a dependable answer for units that are not caught by the ability.
His control can also create time for Elixir regeneration. Do not immediately spend every available point simply because the enemy is frozen. Identify the minimum defense required, preserve surviving troops and convert them into a measured counterpush.
How to Play Against Hero Ice Wizard
Spread supporting troops so one activation cannot freeze the entire attack. Remove Hero Ice Wizard before he slows the preferred target where possible, and keep a suitable spell or ranged attacker ready for the spawned snowman. The faster the snowman falls, the less value the ability earns.
Vary deployment timing rather than building a single dense group. A second wave can continue applying pressure after the first group is frozen. When Frosty Fella is unavailable, Hero Ice Wizard remains a slowing defender but loses the unusual lock that defines his largest swing turns.
Final Thoughts
Frosty Fella is strongest when the slow selects the right target and the snowman appears somewhere awkward to destroy. Build around the time it creates, not merely the freeze animation. Players who learn the targeting rule and resist premature activations will gain far more from Hero Ice Wizard than those who use the ability as soon as it lights up.
