Rainbow Six Mobile Wamai Guide: Mag-NET Placements, Loadout and Counters

Wamai joins Rainbow Six Mobile as a defender in Operation Silent Descent on October 8, 2026. His Mag-NET gadget attracts nearby projectiles and detonates them at its location, allowing him to redirect attacker utility away from reinforced walls, teammates and other valuable defensive equipment.

This guide focuses on practical Wamai play. For every current Tap Guides article covering the game, start with the Rainbow Six Mobile guides hub.

At A Glance

  • Place Mag-NETs away from teammates and important gadgets so intercepted projectiles explode harmlessly.
  • Wamai favours controlled mid-range fights and deliberate pistol shots.
  • Capitão’s Tactical Crossbow bolts move too quickly for Mag-NET to pull them.

How Wamai’s Mag-NET Works

Mag-NET is a throwable, sticky electromagnet. Once attached to a surface, it catches a nearby projectile, drags that projectile to the gadget and allows it to detonate there. It does not simply erase every threat, so placement matters: a badly positioned Mag-NET can move an explosion into your own setup rather than making the room safer.

Use Mag-NET to change where utility lands. Place it where the redirected detonation will not destroy friendly equipment or injure a teammate holding a predictable angle. Vertical surfaces and areas above doorways can be useful because attackers are less likely to spot the device immediately, but never hide it so close to your anchor that the resulting blast still reaches them.

The confirmed exception is Capitão’s Tactical Crossbow. Its bolts travel too quickly for Mag-NET to attract, so do not treat Wamai as a complete answer to every projectile-based attacker.

Best Mag-NET Placement Priorities

Protect the most important part of the defence first. That could mean a reinforced wall being held by Bandit, a deployable shield controlling a doorway or a teammate anchored near the objective. Place the Mag-NET on the approach side of that position but far enough away that an intercepted explosive cannot damage what you are protecting.

Spread gadgets across separate entry routes instead of stacking everything in one small area. One discovered setup should not expose the entire defence. Listen for attacker pressure and adapt later placements to the route receiving the most thrown utility.

Wamai works naturally with Mute and Bandit because their gadgets restrict attacker options around reinforcements. Mag-NET adds another layer by punishing thrown utility aimed at clearing those positions. The season’s Wamai Showcase mode specifically encourages this combination on Border and House.

Wamai Loadout And Gunfight Style

Ubisoft describes Wamai’s primary weapon as a hard-hitting mid-range rifle with steady handling. Play to that identity by holding controlled lines rather than constantly forcing close-range fights. Use short, accurate bursts, keep cover available and reposition after revealing your angle.

His pistol trades fire rate for stopping power, rewarding deliberate shots. It is a fallback when the primary cannot be reloaded safely, not an invitation to spam. If recoil or sight movement is undermining otherwise good positioning, use the Rainbow Six Mobile aim and sensitivity guide to build repeatable controls.

Loadout choices should support the map and the position you plan to defend. The broader Rainbow Six Mobile loadout guide explains how to balance range, recoil and utility rather than copying a setup without considering its purpose.

How To Counter Wamai

Attackers should drone and visually inspect likely Mag-NET spots before throwing valuable utility. A patient clear is better than feeding multiple projectiles into the same defensive layer. Apply pressure from more than one route so Wamai cannot concentrate every gadget around a single doorway or reinforced wall.

Capitão has a specific advantage because his Tactical Crossbow bolts bypass Mag-NET’s pull. Other attackers should coordinate utility: identify or trigger the defence before committing the projectile needed for the actual execute. Good movement also matters once Wamai’s position is known, and the site’s movement and positioning guide covers safer peeks and survivable engagements.

How To Practise Wamai

Operation Silent Descent opens with Wamai Showcase, a 3v3 Bomb variant on Border and House. Use it to test Mag-NET distances, learn which surfaces keep the gadget hidden and observe where redirected projectiles actually detonate. Focus on one placement question per match instead of judging the operator only by kills.

The Silent Descent Battle Pass includes an instant Wamai unlock. Before buying it solely for access, review the full Operation Silent Descent guide and check the in-game reward track, as Ubisoft has not published every tier and item in its announcement.

Final Thoughts

Wamai is strongest when his gadgets reshape an attacker execute rather than merely producing a flashy interception. Protect a clear defensive priority, keep redirected explosions away from friendly equipment and take disciplined mid-range fights. Attackers can answer him through scouting, split pressure and Capitão’s fast-moving crossbow bolts.
