Which Heroes Can Be Promoted to UR

  • In Season 1, Mason was the SSR hero eligible for UR promotion.
  • In Season 2, the eligible hero was Violet.
  • In Season 3, Scarlett is the SSR hero available for UR promotion.
  • Promotions happen during specific seasonal hero promotion events. They are tied to obtaining a Legendary Hero Badge / UR token via season goals and/or building upgrades.

Requirements & What Happens During UR Promotion

RequirementDetails
Star LevelThe hero must be at 5 stars (SSR) before promotion.
Badge / UR TokenA Legendary Hero Badge or UR token must be acquired via seasonal goals or specific building/season objectives.
Wall of Honor LevelHaving the hero’s Wall of Honor at ~160 is helpful so you can immediately upgrade back to 5 stars after promoting due to shard availability / bonus. But not strictly required to do promotion.

What Resets & What Gets Refunded

  • After promoting from SSR → UR: the hero will reset to 3 stars (UR).
  • Skill medals and SSR shards used are refunded to the player (or converted appropriately) when promotion happens. This allows re-investing into that hero or others.
  • Some bonuses tied to the hero’s Wall of Honor apply after promotion (but watch for reset of some buffs).
  • Costs for upgrading the UR hero to 5 stars are higher (often double shArds) compared to standard SSR upgrades.

When Is It Best to Promote

  • During the seasonal hero promotion event, which is time-limited (typically early / mid season). Waiting past that event might delay or block some benefits.
  • Ideally when the hero is already at or near high Wall of Honor level (e.g. 160+) so you can quickly return them to maximum star level.
  • Also align with events that reward “Train Heroes” or other hero-upgrade/hero-star missions (weekly or seasonal tasks) to get extra value.

Pros & Cons of UR Promotion

Pros:

  • Significantly higher stat caps, enhanced skills, and improved performance (especially in late-game content).
  • Refunds of invested items allow flexibility: you can reallocate shards or medals.
  • Being UR can unlock new event rewards or higher rankings in PvP / duels.

Cons:

  • Reset to 3 stars means initial power drop vs the old 5-star SSR until you rebuild the star levels.
  • Skill levels reset; you must re-level them, which costs time & resources.
  • Higher costs for future upgrades (star / shard / skill).

Tips to Minimize Loss & Maximise Gain

  • Make sure you have sufficient universal & hero-specific shards to upgrade back to 5 stars quickly after promotion.
  • Put in all possible skill medals & shards into the hero before promotion to maximize refunded items and then reuse them if needed.
  • Use promotion timing to coincide with events (versus duel, hero star-tasks) to get extra rewards.
  • Keep an eye on when promotion periods open in the season UI (season menu often has “Hero Promotion” tab).

Final Thoughts

UR promotion is a powerful upgrade in Last War: Survival when done right: with the right hero, at the right time, and enough resources. Heroes like Mason, Violet, Scarlett each have their seasons to shine. Doing the prep—getting them to 5 stars SSR, building Wall of Honor levels, gathering the badge/token—and timing it with events will make the transition more rewarding. Weigh the star resets and costs, but once past the initial drop, UR heroes tend to outclass their SSR form in most contexts.
