  • How to use formation and type counters (Tank > Missile > Aircraft > Tank) for squad advantage
  • Optimal hero positioning: front line vs back line, and roles of support heroes
  • How to choose and build your main squad(s) for PvP, PvE, and event content

Understanding the Combat Triangle & Synergies

  • Heroes and squads fall into three classes: Tank, Aircraft, Missile Vehicle. There is a rock-paper-scissors counter system: Missile beats Tanks, Tanks beat Aircraft, Aircraft beat Missiles.
  • Same-type hero bonuses (also called formation bonuses) apply when you use multiple heroes of one type. For example:
    • 3 heroes of same type → ~+5% to HP, Attack, Defense
    • 4 heroes of same type → ~15%
    • 5 heroes of same type → ~20% bonus

Using these bonuses can shift the outcome of battles significantly, especially in PvP or war events.

Hero Positioning & Roles

  • Front Line: Heroes with high durability (Tanks) or those with defense / shielding abilities should be placed in front. They take the brunt of enemy attacks.
  • Back Line: Heroes that deal damage, area of effect (AoE), supports that hold buffs/healing should be placed at back so they survive longer. Proper positioning avoids early losses.
  • Support & Buffs: Heroes whose skills improve your troops, speed up healing, or provide debuffs to enemies are often most effective when surviving longer — so put them safely in back and protect them with your front line.

Choosing Your Main Squad & Upgrades

  • Many players focus on building one main squad (core heroes they use for most content) rather than trying to maintain many mediocre squads. This concentrates your investment (heroes, gear, star upgrades).
  • Upgrade the hero center(s) matching your main squad’s type first (if your squad is Tank heavy, prioritize Tank Center; if you lean Missile, then Missile Center). This improves overall stats for heroes in that class.

How to Counter Enemy Compositions

  • If enemy alliance or players are using many Tanks, use Aircraft and/or Missile heavy squads (depending on what counters which). Always check the counter relationship.
  • Switch in heroes or gear that reduce weakness: for example, gear that reduces damage from Missile if facing many Missile units.

Event / Mode-Specific Adjustments

  • In war or rally events, you may need more burst damage to break shields or finish within time limits. Bring your strongest DPS heroes and support that enhance burst.
  • In PvE or progression content (map, zombie content, trials), survivability matters more: place tanks, invest in healing / sustain, avoid heroes that are too fragile.

Final Thoughts

Mastering advanced combat in Last War: Survival means more than just having strong heroes — it’s about synergy, positioning, counters, and focusing your power into a main squad. Use formation bonuses, hero counters, and maximize your hero positioning to create efficient and tough squads. Once you build that core team, many battles will feel easier, events more doable, and your progress much faster.
